Over the next few days we're going to be showcasing the first five seeds we've chosen for the upcoming Obsidian Worlds release. These aren't random finds. We've carefully curated them with the help of talented seed hunters, tested them properly, and imagined what kind of communities they'd create.
This one didn’t need long to convince us. We call it Treasure Island.

Treasure Island
When we first flew over this seed it genuinely looked wrong.
Right in the middle of the secluded Caribbean island sits a jungle oasis, so dense you could easily get lost in it. Completely dominating the landscape, it almost looks like someone picked up an entire jungle biome and dropped it into the middle of the island.
Then we noticed something even stranger. This island isn't deserted, far from it. In fact, almost every part of the islands sandy coastline is covered by villages. What are the chances?
It’s like the island inhabitants were drawn to this island Oasis with the promise of coconuts, fresh water, and perhaps even some buried treasure. Over time, small settlements appeared wherever people could find space. But nobody seems to have made their home in the jungle. Whether that’s because it's simply too dense, or because they know something you don’t… we’ll leave that for you to discover, if you're brave enough to traverse the jungle.

A world full of stories
The thing we love most about this seed isn’t just how good it looks.
It immediately makes you start inventing stories. Is the jungle hiding the ruins of an ancient civilisation? Did the villages once belong to a maritime empire before the island dwellers were cut off from the mainland?
You could build almost anything here. A hidden temple city swallowed by vines. A bustling maritime trading hub. Or a fortified settlement carved into the jungle itself. Just choose your lore, and let your creativity flow!
It already feels like the setting for an adventure before you’ve even placed your first block.

Don’t forget to look underwater
If you only stay on land, you’ll miss one of the best parts of this seed.
Just offshore you’ll find a beautiful coral reef stretching beneath the water. It’s the perfect contrast to the dry desert coastline and adds another reason to settle nearby. Whether you want an underwater base, a harbour or simply somewhere to gather resources, it’s all within easy reach.
As a SCUBA diver, I had almost as much fun exploring the underwater landscape as I did exploring the island. I'd highly recommend donning your SCUBA gear (Turtle Shell helmet), and immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the reef.
You might even find a few prickly fish, with a somewhat unfriendly personality, guarding something valuable nearby.
We have a feeling this is the kind of seed where every direction reveals something new.
What we’d build first
If you're struggling for inspiration, we have a few ideas.
Recreate the beautiful water bungalows of the Maldives
Take inspiration from the colourful beach huts of Barbados
Erect some Aztec ruins, emerging from the dense jungle
Live your "George of the Jungle" fantasy by constructing a network of interconnected tree-houses
Whatever you end up building, we think this seed is the perfect opportunity to come up with a backstory to motivate your builds.
We’d love to see what you build here.
The next seed takes us somewhere completely different.
